Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:1025055/C2/1> in which X represents a halo, -NH2, -NHR, -NR2, -OR or -SR group, wherein R is an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms. The compounds are prepared by reacting trichloroacetamidine with a trihalomethane-sulphenyl chloride, and, when X in the product is to be other than halo, treating the resulting 3-trichloromethyl - 5 - halo - 1,2,4 - thiadiazole with an appropriate alkali metal alcoholate, alkali metal mercaptide, ammonia, or primary or secondary amine. Examples are given. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 916,285.ALSO:Fungicidal, herbicidal and pesticidal compositions comprise a compound of the general formula <FORM:1025055/A5-A6/1> in which X is halogen, -NH2, -NHR, -NR2, -OR or -SR group and R is a C1-4 alkyl group, and a carrier or diluent. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 916,285.
