Abstract

940,556. Transferring articles from one conveyer to another. HUGH CAMPBELL (LONDON) Ltd. Aug. 18, 1960 [Aug. 18, 1959], No. 28172/59. Heading B8A. Crates are transferred from the upper end of an upwardly moving elevator 9 to a horizontal conveyer 7, or from conveyer 7 to the elevator 9 if the latter is moving downwardly, by a 'platform 1 carried by horizontally spaced pairs of arms 2 rotating on shafts 3, the arrangement being such that the platform moves in an orbital path whilst remaining horizontal, lifts the crates off the elevator 9 and deposits them on the conveyer 7 or vice versa. The elevator 9 has laterally spaced angle bars (not shown) which support the crates, these bars being carried by opposed pairs of chains. A driving transmission shaft 10 interconnects a driving shaft of these chains with one of the shafts 3 so that the platform 1 moves in synchronism with the angle bars of the elevator. Conveyer 7 comprises a laterally spaced pair of chain link conveying members arranged on opposite sides of the platform 1. Counterweights 11 are carried on arms secured to shafts 3 outwardly of the horizontal conveying members. Specification 924,386 is referred to.
