Abstract

858,849. Tunnel kiln conveyers. SHENANGO CHINA Inc. April 21, 1959 [April 21, 1958], No. 13614/59. Class 51 (2). In a tunnel kiln 10 for firing ceramics having a conveyer including cars 20 traversing the kiln on rails 25, 26 and returning upside down on rails 27, 28, each car comprises a ware platform 56 supported on ceramic sleeves 55 engaging recesses 57 in the platform and metal sleeves 50 in a base plate 45, and the rods 60 running through the sleeves 55 with T-heads 62 engaging the platform and their other ends resiliently held against the base plate by springs 61. The base plates 45 are lined with refractory slabs 43, 44 and have wheels interconnected by links 40 engaging sprockets 30, 31 at each end of the kiln. The sprockets at one end have a drive shaft 32 mounted in pillow blocks 33 with adjusting screws 34, the sprockets at the other end being idlers.
