Abstract

1,240,204. Supporting pottery during firing. ACME MARLS Ltd. 20 May, 1970 [12 Aug., 1969], No. 40251/69. Heading F4B. Supports for pottery &c. during firing comprise side members 10 and parallel strip 12 united by rods 11 passing- through holes 10a and spaced apart by sleeves 13, all the parts being made of ceramic refractory material. Upper edges 10b, 12b carry the ware and lower edges 10c, 12c engage the kiln hearth or other supporting surface. In a modification (Fig. 2) the side members (110) are associated with a parallel central member (114) of less depth and other parallel members (112) of considerably less depth, additional flat connecting plates (115) joining side and. central members below said other parallel members (112). The rods 11 may be formed with slotsnear their ends engaged by locking strips passing through vertical slots in the side members (Fig. 3). Another modification (Fig. 4) has all bar-like members, transverse members (311) being notched into side members (310) and into longitudinal members (312). The members may be made of zircon, sintered alumina, silicon carbide, silicon nitride, or alumino-silicate.
