Abstract

1432009 Continuous furnaces U REV 22 June 1973 [23 June 1972] 29668/73 Heading F4B A continuous furnace for the firing of ceramics comprises a preheating zone A, a firing zone B, a cooling zone C, a plurality, e.g. ten, of parallel horizontal channels for the passage of the ware, endless belt or chain link conveyers 16 and 17 in the preheating and cooling zones and a sliding hearth 22 for the ware or its containers in the firing zone B. The latter may be fired by heating chambers 15 above or below the channels which may exist as separate channels only in the firing zone. The conveyers may be individual to each channel or may cover the width of the preheating or cooling zone. The channels may be disposed at the eye level of an operator. Automated plant (Fig. 3) for continuous production comprises the furnace as above (26), moulding presses (30), a drier (29), glazing machines (27) and loading and unloading conveyer systems (23 and 31), the former being associated with pusher elements (24) and the latter removing the products to a sorting and packing zone.
