Abstract

1,013,277. Endless conveyers. N. V. MACHINEFABRIEK V. H. JOHS ABERSON. Oct. 4, 1962 [Sept. 12, 1962], No. 37539/62. Heading B8A. Sets of seven spaced green bricks 2 dried on pallets 1 are transferrd, three sets at a time, at a station 9, from their pallets to a track 10 by pushers 13 on an endless conveyer 12. The bricks are initially on their broad faces and are pushed over a tilting edge 14 thereby being turned on to their narrow faces on a supporting conveyer 15. The conveying run of the conveyer 15 is at rest during this transfer but the conveyer 15 as a whole is supported on a carriage 16 running in a framework 18 on rollers 17 moved in synchronism with the conveyer 12 through a cam 20 actuating a rack- and-pinion drive to the carriage 16 so that the bricks are deposited adjoining each other on the conveyer 15. When a complete batch of three sets of bricks has been transferred to the conveyer 15 the drive to its conveying run is started by operation of a switch by the carriage 16 reaching an extreme of its run. The bricks 2 are fed to an intermediate conveyer 33 which is at this stage driven at the same speed as the conveyer 15 through a dog clutch 35. When this transfer is complete the carriage 16 under the action of the cam 20 returns to its other extreme to collect a further batch of bricks 2, thus disengaging the dog clutch 35. The intermediate conveyer 33 is now driven at the same speed (slower than that of the conveyer 15) as a terminal conveyer 34 through a chain 37 and a sprocket 38 which has a free-wheel clutch 39 permitting the drive from the conveyer 15 to override the drive from the conveyer 34 when the dog clutch 35 is engaged. The bricks are finally transferred to the terminal conveyer 34 whence they are removed by hand for firing.
