Abstract
748,728. Conveyers. GREBE, K. Oct. 27, 1953 [Nov. 3, 1952], No. 29718/53. Class 78 (1). A conveyer comprising overlapping trough. shaped members A connected to a driving chain B provided with guide rollers 20 engaging a track 26, alternate members A having on each side supporting rollers 14 engaging tracks 25, is characterized in that the bottom of each trough member has a downwardly curved portion 1 at one end, and a raised portion 7 at the other which engages under the portion 1 of an adjacent member, and also a transverse recess 4 adapted to receive the said latter portion 1 in such a manner as to permit relative angular movement of the adjacent members in a vertical direction, and also in a horizontal direction to an extent of at least 3 degrees, a sealing action being maintained during such relative movements whereby the material conveyed is prevented from falling between the elements. Over rising and falling sections of the conveyer, slipping of the conveyed material is minimized by transverse ribs 10 which extend as tapering ribs 12 in the side walls 11 of the trough members. Strengthening ribs 24 are also provided in the walls 11. The chain B is built up of links 18 each of which has forked parts 23 at one end adapted to receive an eye portion 21 of an adjacent link, the links being connected by pins 17. The rollers 20 are protected by deflectors 19 on the links. The conveyer may be endless, or may be reciprocated between two terminal stations.
