939,911. Valves. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Nov. 9, 1959 [Nov. 13, 1958], No. 36500/58. Class 135. A distributing and flow control valve, particularly for delivering liquid fuel to the cylinders of an engine, comprises a body 3, 4 having an inlet 4a to a chamber housing a flat sliding valve member 7 which has a number of angularly spaced radial arms 7a and is shaped between the arms to control a corresponding number of angularly spaced distributing ports 9 connected to outlets 10, the arms occupying at their ends a corresponding number of recesses 11a in a control member or ring 11 which is angularly adjustable in the body, e.g. through a projecting extension 11b, the valve member being engaged by an eccentric portion 6 of a rotary spindle 5, and the arrangement being such that as this spindle is rotated the valve member is carried bodily in the circular path of the eccentric whilst its angular position is maintained by the restraint of the control member 11, so as to uncover each in turn of the ports 9 by an amount which is variable according to the setting of the control member 11. The valve member is retained by a spring 8.
