Abstract
937,191. Electrical insulators. A. REYROLLE & CO. Ltd. March 25, 1960 [March 26, 1959], No. 10636/59. Class 36. A high voltage insulator about a conductor 11 comprises layers of inorganic fibrous material 10 enveloped by a moulded insulating layer 15 having an integral charge 16 and containing granular or fibrous inorganic insulating material, both layers being impregnated with the same resin which does not liberate volatile substances during curing. A crepe paper winding interspersed with conducting layers 12, 13, 14, 14 being outermost and earthed, is packed into a mould surrounded by granulated silica and the whole, after drying, is impregnated under vacuum with " Araldite " (Registered Trade Mark) based resin, and is finally cured and cooled.
