Abstract

936,824. Jib cranes on fishing boats. HYDROCONIC Ltd. Oct. 7, 1959 [Oct. 10, 1958 ; Nov. 7, 1958], Nos. 32488/58 and 35831/58. Class 78(4). [Also in Group XXXIII] A gantry 15 is pivoted at 16 at the stern of the fishing boat shown and is reciprocated fore and aft by rams 21 to lift the trawl on to the ship. Thus, the two trawl ropes pass over pulleys 22, 23 to winch drums, which haul in the ropes till the other boards thereof reach pulleys 22. The rams are then operated to swing the gantry inwards, i.e. to the right so that the other boards may be secured to stanchions 26 and are then operated to swing the gantry back outward to the left. The winch drums continued to haul in the trawl ropes till the trawl is close to the stern. A bag rope is then attached. The trawl is then elevated by means of the winch drums, and the elevated trawl (with gantry) is then swung inwards and over bulwark 28 by means of rams 21 to land the net with fish on to the working deck 29.
