Abstract
1,031,951. Trawlers. SIR C. D. BURNEY. Dec. 19, 1962 [Nov. 3, 1961], No. 39540/61. Heading B7A. [Also in Division A1] A trawler of catamaran construction comprising twin hulls having a common deck and superstructure extending over and between them has at least one stern shoot or ramp up which a netted catch can be hauled up on to the vessel. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 4 and 6 (not shown), the two hulls 1, 2 have shoots 3, 4 associated with runways 5, 6 on the upper deck, recesses 9, 10 gallows davits 11, 12 by which the otter are hauled in and stored in the recess 9, 10, and rollers 13, 14 against which the net towlines can ride. The upper and lower girders of a box-like structure 19 extending between the outboard sides of the hulls support the upper and lower decks, the lower deck serving as a factory or working space and providing offices, cabins and other accommodation. In the embodiment of Fig. 12 (not shown), the recesses are omitted and davits 25, 26 are located on the deck above and on the inboard sides of the shoots, so allowing the otter 18 to be drawn on to the shoot (Fig. 13, not shown), disengaged from the tow line, raised and swung in for storage on the upper deck (Fig. 14, not shown), the net 15 then being hauled in up the shoot. In Figs. 21-22 (not shown), the structure 19 encloses the processing deck as in Figs. 4 and 6 (in which the upper fishing deck is left open), the upper fishing deck is enclosed (at 30), with an enclosure 31 above the fishing deck for crew and other accommodation, above which enclosure 31 the wheel house 32 is located towards the rear of the fishing deck. The stern shoots may be pivoted as in Specification 1,031,952.
