Abstract

1,046,763. Catamarans. J. H. WOOLMER, G. E. WOOMER, and R. W. BAKER. June 19, 1963 [March 29, 1962], No. 12039/62. Heading B7A. A catamaran comprises a pair of hulls (26, 27, Fig. 2, not shown), a deck section (D) and hinges (24, 25, 28 and 29) connecting the hulls to the deck section whereby the hulls may be disposed alongside the deck section for operational use or can be folded over and laid on top of the deck section for storage &c. In operational use, each side of the deck section is bolted to the adjacent hull and struts (S2, S3) are also connected to the hulls and deck section whilst a strut (S1) connects the prows of each hull. Side parts of the deck section define a V-shaped groove (Fig. 8, not shown), extending fore and aft along the sides of said deck section in which the corresponding hull presents a complementary shaped strake for reception in said groove. Each hull is provided with a removable centre-board (75, 76) and a removable rudder (70, 71).
