A life-boat comprises a hull 1 having fore and aft portions 4, 5 and an intermediate portion 2 extending between said fore and aft portions and including a plurality of storage tanks 9-12 and 17, 18 arranged in rows extending longitudinally of the intermediate portion with at least one row (17 or 18) above another (9, 10, 11 or 12), and a plurality of seating portions 13, 15, 16 arranged in rows extending longitudinally of the intermediate portion with at least one row (15 or 16) above another (13), at least said one row (17 or 18) of storage tanks being adapted to serve as said one row (15 or 16) of seating portions when empty.
