935,562. Container closures; flexible containers. P. J. C. SEELEN. Jan. 25, 1961 [Jan. 26, 1960], No. 2984/61. Classes 66 and 125(3). [Also in Group XXIX] A valve which may be fitted to the neck 50 of a collapsible container comprises a plunger 53 of synthetic plastics material movable in a spout member 51 to open or close an opening 55, a flange 54 on the plunger 53 having a sharp edge directed inwardly of the container. The valve is opened by pressure on the container body and closed by pressure on the outer end of the plunger. In a modification, the spout member is integral with a screw cap, Fig. 2, and openings 58 are formed in a skirt 57 below the flange 54. The opening 55 may be in the form of a slit, Fig. 3 (not shown), bordered by an outjutting lip for use as an applicator. As shown in Fig. 4, the valve may serve as a pressure relief valve normally closed by a spring 68; the member 51 may be integral either with a screw cap, Fig. 5 (not shown), or with the end wall of a collapsible tube, Fig. 8 (not shown).
