Abstract
934,488. Valves. A. W. MILLARD, and DRALLIN INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 23, 1960 [Aug. 26, 1959], No. 29258/59. Class 135. A fluid-flow control valve comprises a valve body 10, Fig. 1, a chamber 13 within the body, a plurality of connectors 16, 17 removably connected to the body, a rotatable operating spindle 11 extending through the body and into the chamber, a cam surface 14 on that part of the spindle located in the chamber, at least one of the connectors being provided with a valve seat, a valve member 23 disposed in the passageway of the last mentioned connector for movement axially thereof, means 25 for normally biasing the valve member into engagement with the cam surface and away from the valve seat, whereby upon rotation of the spindle each valve member is movable into and out of engagement with its seat. The connector 16, which may serve as an inlet or an outlet is selectively connected with one of four connectors 17 by rotation of the spindle 11 which is located axially by a split collar 32 and provided with a pointershaped knob 26. In a further embodiment, six radial connectors are arranged in two rows in staggered relationship to one another and are secured by three U-shaped clamps which are secured by a nut to the central connector and have their ends in engagement with flats on peripheral nut-like portions of the radial connectors. The actuating spindle may have two or three flats and in either embodiment the central connector may be plugged. In a third embodiment, a common inlet pipe may be selectively connected with up to three outlet pipes in dual banks of pipes, there being no central connector. Connectors not in use in each of the banks are provided with dummy valves and rotation of the connectors is prevented by clamps screwed to the valve body.
