Abstract

831,809. Valves. CANNON INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 2, 1958 [Jan. 4, 1957], No. 405/57. Class 135. A gas tap of the kind in which the body 4 is adapted to be mounted in a gas rail 5 so that the part of the body provided with the inlet port or ports 10 is surrounded by gas is provided with a metal band 13 formed with an orifice or orifices 14 corresponding in position and number to the port or ports 10. The band 13 is readily removable and replaceable by one with different sized orifices 14 so that the tap can readily be adapted to controlling gases of differing calorific values. The band 13 is located between flanges 12 on the body and is selfretaining by being made of a springy material and extending for more than a half-circle round the body. The port 7 in the plug 3 may be dimensioned as shown to communicate simultaneously with all of the ports 10 or it may be dimensioned so as to communicate with only one port at a time in which case each orifice 14 in the band 13 is of a size to give the required gas flow at each angular setting of the tap. The outlet from the plug is by way of an axial passage communicating with a nozzle 9. Specification 827,626 is referred to.
