A ventilator for a vehicle comprises a movable e.g. transparent panel 12 covering an opening 10 in the vehicle and telescopic spring-loaded struts 16 hinged both to brackets 25 on the panel and to members 19 on the vehicle and arranged to hold the panel closed in one position and open in another position. Openings 34 leading to a curved baffle 35 provide ventilation when the panel is closed.
