867,837. Windscreens, vehicle windows. HUMBER Ltd., and OLIVER, S. W. Nov. 22, 1957 [Aug. 27, 1956], No. 26077/56. Class 20(3) A no-draught side ventilator window 10 for a vehicle pivoting about an axis 13 between closed and air scoop positions has, in order to prevent buffetting or turbulence in the vehicle when the side window 18 is opened, provision that the ventilator window 10 or an additional panel 16 may pivot about an axis at or near the front of the ventilation opening 11. As shown the panel 16 is hinged to the leading edge of the ventilator window 10 and is linked to the window by a spring toggle stay 17 so that the panel is located either adjacent the window or in the illustrated position. A stop 20 or a metal strip in the window seal acts on the toggle so that when the window 10 is moved to the air scoop position the panel is closed to the window. In a second embodiment the window 10 is pivoted to its frame only at the leading edge and the frame is pivoted in the window opening about the axis 13, means being provided releasably to secure the window to the frame, and the panel 16 dispensed with. The panel 16 may be automatically opened and shut with the window 18.
