Abstract

852,096. Vehicle windows. PERFECTA MOTOR EQUIPMENTS Ltd. May 5, 1959 [May 6, 1958], No. 14419/58. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXV] A vehicle pivoting quarter light 1 mounted in a frame 2 is provided with a hand-operated catch member 10 pivoted to an interior edge of the frame 2 about an axis parallel to said edge, as by a pin 11 held in eyes 12 formed on a member 13 secured to the frame 2, so that when the window is closed projections 14 on the member 10 engage behind a pair of lugs 15 of a sheet pressing latch member 16 secured to the interior portion of the window surround 3 the member 10 spanning the gap between the window and surround. The lugs 15 conceal the eyes 12. The window pivots 5, Fig. 4, are housed in an aperture formed in a plate 18 by joggling or raising portions thereof to provide a frictional fit. Alternatively the pin 5 may have its bearing in a split collar preferably having an adjustable nut thereon to adjust the amount of friction. The eyes 12 are formed on a strip 13, Fig 2 clamped in the channel-section frame 2 by the pane 1. Rubber beading 7 in the surround forms a weather-tight seal. The lower portion of the handle grip may be omitted.
