Abstract

715,795. Windows; preventing condensation, &c. AUSTER, Ltd., and SMALL, W. W. July 31, 1953 [Oct. 14, 1952], No. 25657/52. Class 20 (3) Windows, particularly windows and windscreens of public service vehicles, comprise inner and outer transparent panels 1. 2, fitted within a common frame 4, warm air being introduced into the space 3 between the panels through an inlet 19 connected, e.g. to the air heating system, and exhausted therefrom through hooded slots 16 in a sheet metal plate 15 in the upper part of the inner panel 1. The frame 4 is provided with a channel 6 in which the outer glass panel 2, preferably curved outwards in a horizontal plane, is fitted, the inner panel 1 being mounted in a separate frame 8 which is hinged at 10 to a flange 7 of the frame 4. A rubber sealing strip 9 is fitted round the frame 8. Pivoted spring-loaded bolts located in casings 13 on the lower bar of the frame 8 engage slots in the lower flange 7 of the frame 1 to secure the panel 1 in the closed position, the bolts being operated by a removable key. In alternative constructions, the hinges for the inner panel may be at one atde and the outer panel may be curved in a vertical direction. In a further embodiment the inner panel is fixed and the outer panel is hinged.
