Abstract

1531841 Roof ventilator HOGANAS AB 5 Jan 1976 [8 Jan 1975 3 Nov 1975] 155/76 Heading A5A [Also in Divisions E2 and F4] A roof ventilator comprises a frame having two gable-ends 16 and two opposed walls 15, flaps 10, 11 pivotally mounted on the walls 15 to define in their closed position, together with the gable-ends 16, a gable-roof structure, biasing means for exerting an outwardly opening force on the flaps 10, 11, and latching means for releasably securing the flaps in their closed position, wherein flap 11 extends beyond the ridge of the gableroof structure in the closed position of the flaps to define a supporting edge 40 for flap 10 and to accommodate a moisture-collecting channel 20, and the free edge of flap 10 carries a cover part 41 which extends over the channel 20. Each flap is spring or weight biased towards an open position or, alternatively, is mounted on wall 15 by a torsion rod hinge axle (22, Figs. 4, 5). Flaps 10, 11 are respectively secured in their closed positions by a latch (18, Figs. 5, 6) including a fusible link and by a latch 45 actuated by a pivotable arm 56, carried by the flap 10, during opening movement of flap 10. The latch (18) may also include an electromagnet associated with smoke detectors. Alternatively both latches may include a fusible link. Both latches may additionally be manually operable. Each flap may be provided with at least one pneumatic braking device 46 mounted inside or outside the frame.
