Abstract

931,969. Hose reinforcement. T. L. FAWICK. Oct. 20, 1961, No. 37774/61. Class 99(2). A hose comprises a tubular body 10 of an elastomeric material having completely embedded therein and bonded thereto a series of transverse reinforcement elements 11 in succession along its length, wherein the reinforcement elements 11 have substantially a greater diameter transversely of the hose than lengthwise and are substantially non-deformable transversely of the hose. The elements 11 may be part of a helix 12 or may be separate annular bodies. The faces 11a, 11b of the elements may be corrugated or serrated to give a keying surface for the elastomeric material. A helix e.g. of steel may be wound about the exterior of the hose, the turns being midway between the reinforcing elements 11.
