1292348 Pipe coupling sleeves PNEUMATIQUES CAOUTCHOUC MANUFACTURE ET PLASTIQUES KLEBER COLOMBES 31 Dec 1969 [31 Dec 1968] 63594/69 Headings F2G and F2P A sleeve for coupling pipes or tubes comprises a supple, rubber, tubular member 10 reinforced near its ends 12 by means 20 and over its remaining length by approximately longitudinal strips or cables 19, and flanges 13 to mount the sleeve in axial compression to form a corrugation able to absorb longitudinal movement of the connected pipes or tubes. To form a constant number of corrugations at predetermined locations in member 10, circumferential rings of inextensible metal or textile threads are placed in the troughs of each corrugation. The sleeve may be designed to operate under vacuum. A method of manufacturing such sleeves is disclosed in which one step is the cutting of a vulcanized rubber strip and rolling it and sealing the abutting ends to form a sleeve.
