967,808. Tubes. COMPOFLEX CO. Ltd. March 11, 1963 [Dec. 22, 1961], No. 45977/61. Heading F2P. Flexible-tubing has a body portion of P.T.F.E. formed by helically winding thin sheet or strip with preferably overlapping edges and reinforced by outer and inner wire coils whose turns are mutually staggered. In the construction described, each turn of one reinforcement lies midway between adjacent turns of the other. In the case of P.T.F.E. in an unsintered state the tube body is heated to bond the overlapped portions together. P.T.F.E. may be employed in its sintered state, the overlapping portions of the body remaining unbonded. The reinforcing material may comprise an inherently non- corrisive wire, e.g. stainless steel, a wire protected from corrosion, e.g. by galvanization or coating with a plastic. The tubing is made up on a mandrel.
