931,790. Car transporters. CARTER ENGINEERING CO. (TAMWORTH) Ltd. May 14, 1962 [May 18, 1961; Oct. 30, 1961], Nos. 18113/61 and 38694/61. Class 108(1). A lift platform 16 supported on four screw jacks at the rear of a car transporter may be raised to the level of the upper deck 12 to facilitate loading and as the platform 16 is preferably inclined in its lower position the pitch of the screw threads or alternatively their speed of rotation may be varied to ensure that the platform 16 is level in the raised position. The screws may be rotated through gearing from a centrally arranged rod 18 driven from the engine or the screws may be driven by sprockets and chains.
