Abstract

930,790. Fluid-pressure brakes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Nov. 4, 1959 [Nov. 14, 1958], No. 36707/58. Addition to 868,965. Class 103 (1). A vehicle brake system comprises a monitor brake shoe applied to a wheel rim by spring means and released by fluid pressure means, and means permitting angular movement of the shoe to actuate a main brake. A spring 15 in cylinder 14, acts through rod 12 and beam 3 to bias a shoe 1 against wheel rim 2, angular movement of shoe 1 due to friction rotating a lever 4, pivoted to beam 3, to actuate a double master cylinder 5 and apply a disc brake 8. The shoe 1 is moved to a release position by fluid pressure admitted to cylinder 14 by a manual valve 16 from an air pressure reservoir or hydraulic accumulator 17. The lever 4 and cylinder 14 are pivoted to unsprung parts of the vehicle. Specification 902,391 also is referred to.
