Abstract
928,220. Aircraft seat harness. J. MARTIN. April 5, 1961 [April 6, 1960], No. 12299/60. Class 141. An aircraft seat harness includes lap straps 6, 7 releasably connected at their front ends to a quick release box 16 and at their rear ends to locks 10, 11 on the seat pan 2, and a retaining strap 23 extending downwardly from direct or indirect connection with the quick release box, passing between the wearer's legs, under a guide rod or roller 22 on the front of the seat pan and extending rearwardly for releasable connection with the rear of the seat pan. The front end of the strap 23 may have loops 25, as shown, for the passage of the front ends of the lap straps, or may have an apertured lug as in Fig. 4 (not shown) for direct connection with the quickrelease box. Rearwardly of the guide member 22, the strap 23 comprises divergent limbs 26, 27 terminating in loops 28 for engagement over the lugs 8, 9 on the rearward ends of the lap straps. The strap portions 26, 27 may extend over or under the seat cushion 3. In an ejection seat there may be manual and automatic means for releasing the lugs 8, 9 from the locks 10, 11. The Provisional Specification describes also an embodiment wherein the guide member 22 and rearward parts 26, 27 of the retaining strap are omitted, the retaining strap extending vertically downward and terminating in a lug for engaging in a lock on the front of the seat pan.
