Abstract
928,190. Cooling brakes. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. Dec. 12, 1960 [March 10, 1960], No. 8528/60. Class 103 (1). The drum 5 of an internal shoe drum brake has an inner jacket 7 and an outer jacket 9 connected to and enclosing the external drum surface, cooling liquid passing from one jacket to the other in circulating around the drum. A coupling 22 is connected to a pump (not shown) which circulates liquid through a passage 18, in the brake drum supporting shaft 6, to the inner jacket 8, through apertures 17 adjacent the flange 11 of the drum to outer jacket 10 and, thence, through passage 19 to coupling 23 which is connected through a heat-exchanger to the inlet of the pump.
