Abstract

927,984. Cigarette lighters. ROGERS Inc. March 9, 1962, No. 9219/62. Class 75 (3). [Also in Group XXIX] A cigarette lighter fuelled with liquefied gas comprises a centrally bored resilient washer 31 housed in a sleeve 22 and compressed by a control member 25 which screws into the sleeve 22 and which incorporates a reciprocating valve pin 21 adapted to seat over a bore 32 of the washer 31. The valve pin extends through a burner tube 28 and is pushed down to close the bore 32 of the washer by a spring element on the lighter cap. A step 38 on a shoulder of the pin 21 provides a gas passage into the burner tube. The control member 25 is rotated by a wheel 27 on the head of the member. The sleeve 22 has a top flange 23 and screws into the top of the lighter. A metal thimble 33 driven into the bore of the sleeve has a bevelled hole housing a bored thermally stable disc 34 made of sapphire or garnet.
