[Also in Group VI] A stapling device comprises a pair of serrated jaws 5, 6 between which the material to be stapled may be gripped, the first jaw 5 carrying two rows of staples and the second jaw 6 having means for bending the staples, a staple driver 22<SP>1</SP> for operating punches 19 to push the staples out of the first jaw, and a knife 25 for cutting the stapled material between the two rows of staples. Each jaw is attached to a frame 11, 21, the frames being detachably pivoted to one another about a pin 3 at the end remote from the jaws. A lever 26 on one frame engages a pin 28 on the other frame to prevent inadvertent separation of the jaws. The staple driver 22<SP>1</SP> and the knife 25 are carried by a bar 22 which is slidable within the staple carrying jaw 5 and on the frame 1<SP>1</SP> associated with that jaw. The jaws are applied separately to the material to be stapled. After the jaws and frames have been connected together at the pin 3 and by the lever 26 so that the material is gripped, the staple driver and the knife are projected to eject the staples and cut the material.
