Abstract

792,550. Cutting-pliers; trimming slates. IGGULDEN; W. A., IGGULDEN, W. P., and IGGULDEN, J. M., [trading as BENTLEY MANUFACTURING CO.]. Dec. 30, 1955, No. 37479/55. Classes 61 and 124. A tool for cutting fibro-cement sheets and like material comprises a body member 1 having attached thereto a handle 2, a cutting blade 9 slidably mounted in the body, a fixed jaw 3 supported by the body and having an opentopped slot 11 through which the cutting blade operates to shear a narrow strip from a sheet engaged in the mouth 7, and an operating handle 13 pivoted to the body and connected through pivoted links to the end of the blade. The handle 13 has a pivot pin 15 on the end thereof connected by a pair of links 16 to a pivot pin 17 on the end of the cutting blade 9, the pivot pins being slidable in slots 18 in the body member. The body member comprises two side plates 4 spaced apart by spacers which form a slideway for the blade. A pointed piercing blade 19 is provided on the end of the handle 2 for use in forming an initial hole in the sheet, a sliding cover 21 being provided for the blade when not in use.
