Abstract

A counter-blade (5) with a hook (4) and handle (7) is hinged to the main blade (3) with handle (6). The hinge point (8) of the two blades is positioned on the side of the cutting-edge (9) of the main blade, so that the cutting action pulls the branches and not presses them. The angle enclosed by the two blades (3, 5) is very acute. The base (10) of the jaw between the blades is not V-shaped but wide and rounded. The cutting edges (9, 11) of the two blades (3, 5) are essentially straight. The tip of the main blade (3) overlaps the hooked-tip (4) of the counter-blade (5). A pivot-mounted (13) attachment (12) at the bottom of the main blade (3) engages into notches (14). A coiled spring (15) gives an elastic movement to the shear's opening.
