Abstract
1394405 Cutting gels; gripping tools SHANDON SOUTHERN INSTRUMENTS Ltd 8 Jan 1974 [26 Jan 1973] 4118/73 Headings B4W and B5A Slots are cut in a gel by a cutter, Fig. 5, comprising a pair of parallel blades 10 and the cut material is removed by a pair of opposed scoops 1 articulated to one another, Fig. 1, which are introduced between the blades of the cutter before removal from the gel. The scoops are mounted either as a pair of calipers or, as shown, with finger pieces 6 on the side of the pivot remote from the scoop. The scoops 1 are made from thin steel strip and are connected to extension pieces 3 by wires 2. The scoops and cutter blades may be P.T.F.E. coated. A toggle spring 7 maintains the scoops in either the closed or open position.
