Abstract

736,450. Stapling. SCHAFROTH, W. May 4, 1953 [March 7, 1952], No. 12291/53. Class 89 (3). In a stapling device in which clenching anvils penetrate the work to be stapled before a staple is driven, the anvils 20, 21 are mounted on pivoted handles 14, 15 which are coupled by links 36, 37 to a staple driver 30. The links are drawn together by a rubber band 42. Staples 4 are fed along a magazine 3 formed by inner and outer channel members 62, 61 by a pusher 75 controlled by a rubber band 79 which is anchored at its ends 78, 80 to the channel 62 and the pusher 75 and is looped around an intermediate roller. The magazine is closed by a pivoted bar 67. A pivoted catch 70 is provided to hold the pusher 75 retracted while the magazine is loaded.
