Abstract
1,024,708. Clamp fastenings. LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd. Feb. 16, 1965 [April 15, 1964], No. 15616/64. Heading E2B. [Also in Division B4] A stapling machine for attaching end stops to sliding clasp fasteners comprises a jig 1 for holding a slider 19 and located adjacent an anvil 15 such that after threading a pair of fastener stringers through the slider to interlock them, an end stop may be stapled to the ends of the stringers while the slider is still clamped in the jig. The jig comprises a jaw 3 pivoted on a pin 4 fixed in a second jaw 2, the jaw 3 being loaded to the closed position shown for holding a slider 19, by means of a spring 6; a handle 7 is provided for opening the jaws. The jig is slidable on a pivoted arm 10 between a raised position shown in which the jig is retained by spring-loaded catches 12 and a lower position determined by a stop 13. In operation, the two stringers are first inserted into the clamped slider 19, the jig then moved down to abut the stop 13 and the arm pivoted to the chain-dotted position so that a stapler 26 may drive an end stop into the ends of the stringers.
