927,928. Developing electrostatic images. OZALID CO. Ltd., and A. L. ROBERTSON. Aug. 26, 1959 [Aug. 26, 1958], No. 27294/58. Class 98 (2). Apparatus for developing electrostatic charge images comprises a container for developer powder, a rotatable member within the container adjacent the bottom and rear wall and having on its periphery means such as buckets or vanes adapted to carry as the member rotates developer upwardly around the rear wall and to discharge the powder forwardly within the container on to the charge image-bearing sheet or web which is supported so as to extend from above the container bottom upwardly and outwardly of the container, whereby surplus developer powder falls back along the sheet or web into the container for re-circulation. As shown developer powder in the bottom of the container 2 is moved upwardly along the curved wall 1 by an anti-clockwise rotatable brush having sets of bristles 3 on a hub 4 and is thrown on to a guide plate 11 so that powder is applied at 6 to the upwardly moving web 7 fed around rollers 8, 9 and supported by a backing plate 5. A stationary brush 11 closesthe gap between the web on rollers 8 and the bottom of the container. To replenish the developer, a powder cloud is blown through a gauze-covered aperture in the container.
