A self-wringing mop has a ring 12 adapted to be passed over the mop to wring it and having a gap 13 in the perimeter, opposite a pivot 10 which connects the ring, via a rod 7, to a slidable sleeve 5 on the handle 2, the arrangement being such that after passing over the mophead 1, the ring swings to one side before being drawn back up the handle. The handle has a bar portion 17 sufficiently narrow to pass through the gap 13 which is closed by a pivoted arm 15 actuated by a cam 18 fixed on the handle adjacent to the mophead.
