994,780. Self-wringing mops. S. G. YOUNG. May 14, 1962 [July 5, 1961], No. 24343/61. Heading A4F. In a self-wringing mop of the kind in which an operating rod controlling means for wringing the sponge element is pivoted to an actuating lever, the actuating lever 11 projects through a slot 8 in the handle 7 and is pivotally mounted therein at 12. The lever 11 is connected to the operating rod 3 by a pivot pin 13, the lever or vee rod being cranked in the region of the pivot so they can extend through the slots 8 without binding on the edges. The handle 7 may be strengthened in the vicinity of the slot 8 by a tubular insert.
