Abstract

927,145. Rolling. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Sept. 29, 1961 [Nov. 29, 1960], No. 35089/61. Class 83 (4). A device for maintaining a preset pass opening between two rolls in a rolling mill comprises a pressure-sensitive gauge 12, situated between a driven screw 7 and an upper roll housing 4, whose output voltage is compared with that from a variable reference potentiometer 14 to vary the speed and direction of rotation of the screw .7 7 such that the pressure reaches and remains at a predetermined figure. A regulator 9 and tachometer generator 15 determine the operation of a motor 8 which drives the screw. Should too high a pressure be transmitted through the gauge 12 resilient walls 16 which house a measuring body 17 are deflected so that the screw 7 acts directly on the housing 4. Cylinders 5 serve to balance the upper roll 3. Specification 767,791 is referred to.
