Abstract
926,055. Clamps. SCAFFOLDING (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. Feb. 22, 1961 [Feb. 22, 1960], No. 6224/60. Class 44. A sleeve coupling comprises a metal plate bent to a U-shaped cross-section and adapted to embrace the adjoining aligned end portions of a pair of tubes arranged in end-to-end relation with the side flanges 3, 4 of the sleeve projecting substantially tangentially outwardly of the tube end portions and having bolts 5, 6 extending through them at spaced positions along the coupling and substantially at right angles to the axis of the latter, the heads 7 of the bolts and the nuts 8, 9 thereon having their inner ends of radiused or part-spherical form and seating in correspondingly shaped radiused or part-spherical recesses 13, 14 provided in the outer surfaces of the flanges around the holes in the latter through which the bolts pass. As shown, protuberances 20 are pressed in from the flanges 3, 4 to improve the grip on the tube end portions, and a split spring ring 22 is located within the coupling to constitute a stop for the inner extremities of the tube end portions. The bolt-heads are apertured to take a tommy bar.
