Abstract

925,954. Valves. R. RAMSDEN & SON Ltd. June 15, 1961 [April 5, 1960], No. 11950/60. Class 135. A tapered plug cock of the type having coaxial inlet and outlet passages 4, 5 and a through passage 21 in the plug of equal crosssection has a hollow plug constructed such that the mating portions of the plug and body are of substantially equal thickness and the plug and body are made of materials having equal coefficients of expansion whereby the plug will not sieze or leak with changes of pressure. The wall 22 of the passage 21 and the walls 23, 24 of the body are also of equal thickness. The plug is preferably provided with two lugs 8 having rectangular holes 10 which receive an actuating rectangular shaft 11 which is a loose fit. The housing preferably receives a screwed plug 15 which forms an abutment for a spring 20 loading the plug.
