Abstract

<PICT:0924632/IV(a)/1> <PICT:0924632/IV(a)/2> A continuously moving thread has a finishing liquid, e.g. an oil, evenly applied to it by passage through a uniform straight tube of maximum internal diameter 1 mm. with an opening in the wall of the tube through which the finishing liquid is supplied and having such a length that the thread on leaving the tube has absorbed all the finishing liquid. The thread is preferably guided in and out of the tube along its centre line and the finishing liquid is preferably supplied to the treatment tube through a duct which has capillary dimensions. In Fig. 2, a finishing device 1 comprises a protracted block 3 with a channel 4 triangular in cross-section. A lid 6 hinged at 5 has a projecting rim 7 of trapezoidal cross-section which fits into channel 4 leaving a triangular shaped tubular channel as shown in Fig. 3. The treating liquid enters via tube 13 and capillary tube 12. In Fig. 2 numeral 1 denotes a finishing device which comprises a protracted block 3 with a channel 4 substantially triangular in cross-section. A lid 6 hinged at 5 has a projecting rim 7 of trapezium-shaped cross-section which fits into channel 4 leaving a triangular shaped tubular channel as shown in Fig. 3. The treating liquid enters via tube 13 and capillory tube 12.
