Abstract

924,428. Valve gear ; combustion chambers. J. G. OECHSNER. March 14, 1960, No. 8962/60. Classes 7(2) and 7(6). In an overhead camshaft engine, each pair of valves 10, 13 Fig. 1, which are oblique with respect to, and on opposite sides of, the vertical plane containing the camshaft axis and spaced on either side of the transverse plane through the cylinder axis, are operated by pivotally mounted rocker arms 29, 34 which are curved in side view and substantially straight in plan view. The rocker arms are pivoted in bearing blocks 23, 24 which can be adjusted vertically, by means of stop screws 27 and setscrews 25 which move in slots 26, or horizontally by means of shims 28. Roller cam followers 31, 33 Fig. 5 are mounted between the side plates of individual rocker arms.
