558,779. Valve gear. MORGAN, H. R. May 19, 1943, No. 6768/42. [Class 7 (vi)] In an engine having staggered valves G, G1 with their axes inclined to each other in a cross section of the engine, the valves are actuated from an overhead cam shaft A through tappets D in line with the axes of the valves and one valve G opens into a recess in the combustion chamber, separated from the seating for the valve G1 by a ledge P. In a longitudinal section of the engine, the valves may be parallel to each other, or may converge towards or away from the cam shaft.
