Abstract

924,354. Combined lamps and lampholders. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 11, 1959 [Aug. 14, 1958], No. 27477/59. Classes 39 (2) and 75 (4). In a combination of a lamp having a centring flange and a lampholder having a supporting surface for the flange, especially for use with lamps having a filament wound in a plane, the flange and supporting surface have co-operating projections extending parallel to the lamp axes and apertures or slots provided in two diametrically opposite areas, the apertures or slots providing a close fit for the projections in the circumferential direction. In the form shown, the supporting surface 8 carries cylindrical pins 16, 17 which engage in circular apertures 14, 15 on extensions 12, 13 united by a ring 11 secured to the lamp cap 3. One or both apertures may be replaced by slots. Instead of pins, projections may be struck up from the supporting surface and bent at right angles to it. To enable the lamp to be inserted from the front, the supporting surface 21, Fig. 2a, may have a circular hole 24 with lateral recesses 25, 26, at right angles to the line forming the pins 22, 23. The centring flange is passed through the recesses, the lamp turned through 90 degrees and the apertures in the flange, one of which may be a slot, engaged with the pins.
