Abstract
924,157. Gas-liquid contact columns. SOC. DES VERRERIES INDUSTRIELLES REUNIES DU LOING. Aug. 31, 1959 [Aug. 29, 1958], No. 29687/59. Class 55 (2). A grid for supporting filling bodies in a gasliquid contact column comprises a plate 2 extending across the column and having a central aperture above which is arranged an assembly comprising open-ended tubes 9 supported on a tubular T-piece 6 and providing between them annular passages for the upward flow of gas. The walls of the tubes are indented as at 12 to keep the tubes spaced apart and in the centre there is a tube 10 closed at its upper end except for perforations 11. In a modification the T-piece 6 is welded to the apertured plate 2. The grid may be made of glass.
