931,591. Contacting a gas with a liquid. TAKEDA PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 24, 1959 [Dec. 28, 1958], No. 43882/59. Class 55 (2). A gas-liquid contact column 1 (Fig. 1) has stacked one above the other a plurality of groups of vertical unit columns 2 of equal polygonal cross-section, the unit columns in each group being packed with filling bodies 3 and liquid flowing down the column is collected at the foot of the upper or each group of unit columns and redistributed to the unit columns of the lower or next lower group of unit columns. The arrangement for collecting and redistributing the liquid is shown in Fig. 5 (not shown) and includes downcomers 13.
