A plurality of gas/liquid contact trays of the type described in Specification 1109382 (Div. B1-B2) are assembled in vertical spaced relationship as a unit which can be inserted or withdrawn from a column casing 20. As shown the trays are supported in rods 59 and spaced apart by members 60. Each tray has a resilient sealing ring 56 located in a peripheral groove 54.
