Abstract

923,264. Easels. D. C. KILLEN. Jan. 23, 1962 [Jan. 23, 1961; Oct. 3, 1961; Jan. 3, 1962], No. 2523/62. Class 52 (3). An artist's easel comprises a normally upright standard 11 having a vertical slot 13 and a pair of elongated clamping devices 14, 16 for supporting a frame 22 for a canvas at the top and bottom edges thereof, said devices 14, 16 being adjustably secured by means 17, 18 engaging the slot 13. In modifications vertical support members 66 and lateral, slotted member 64 are provided with or without extension assemblies 84 comprising horizontal pairs of adjustable extension members 88, 89 secured uprights 86. The foot 54 of the brace 44 may be adjustably connected to the foot 53 of the standard 11 by outriggers 106 (Fig. 9, not shown). The easel is adjustable by interengaging thumbscrews and slots. In one embodiment (Fig. 15), the easel may be converted to a table in which case a leg assembly 128 is provided.
