Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0922957/IV(a)/1> (wherein -NR1R2 is di-alkyl-amino, each alkyl radical containing at most 4 carbon atoms, or a radical of the formula <FORM:0922957/IV(a)/2> wherein "alkylene" has 1 to 4 carbon atoms and Z is -CH2-, -O-, or -NR3, R3 being alkyl or hydroxyalkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms) and salts thereof with pharmacologically acceptable inorganic and organic acids; and the preparation thereof by reacting pyrazine carboxamide directly or in stages with formaldehyde and the appropriate secondary amine. The amine and formaldehyde or a compound yielding formaldehyde may react simultaneously with the amide or the latter may be first converted into N-methylol-pyrazine carboxamide or an ether or thioether thereof or into diethylaminomethyl-pyrazine carboxamide by reaction with formaldehyde and if necessary reaction with alcohols, thioalcohols or diethylamine and the intermediate product then reacted with the appropriate secondary amine. In examples, -NR1R2 is diethylamino, morpholino, pyrrolidino, piperidino, di-npropylamino, di-nbutylamino, 41(b -hydroxyethyl)- piperazino and N1- methyl piperazino. Salts with hydrochloric, sulphuric, tartaric and citric acids are referred to.
